Don't let the media freak you out.

Germany: Plot targeted U.S. facilities

I had to actually go online to find out about the news story. My boss brought it up at a steering committee meeting we had this morning and I haven't heard anything about it since. It can't be that bigga deal or they'd have been talking about it on AFN Radio.

A couple of things from what I read: ...that Frankfurt international airport and U.S. Ramstein Air Base were among the targets. The airport is 50km (31 miles) from our house and Ramstein is 84km (52 miles) from post. Just so you know.

"The three suspects — two Germans, ages 22 and 28, and a 29-year-old Turk — first came to the attention of authorities because they had been caught observing a U.S. military facility in Hanau, near Frankfurt, at the end of 2006, officials said."
This is something that is stressed constantly to us. Everyone is told regularly that if you see someone observing the base or taking pictures to report them. So I guess they aren't kidding.

and: Robert Payne at Fraport AG, which operates Frankfurt International said that it was "business as usual" at the airport...So as you see, they weren't that worried about it.

I just wanted to ease your mind, we feel safe.

Thank you, Sam called to tell me. None of us can live in fear of the boogy man. Not that he doesn't exist, we just can't live in fear.

I heard about this in yoga class today so of course I came home and went straight to your blog. Here they acted as if a MAJOR attack had been prevented. I'm glad to be able to hear the German side of the story since I know the media here makes a big to-do out of EVERYTHING. Thanks for updating us, and glad all is well :)
