Requests

If you know any song that mentions Texas, please let me know. If the jukebox people have it...and it isn't Willie Nelson...and I like it at least half way, I'll add it.

No quarters required.

About the jukebox...

I pretty much did the whole jukebox myself. I added the UT fight song and the Army song for SB. Anyway, I know some of them will strike a chord with some of you, either for your own reasons or because we shared them somehow. Hope you enjoy at least one or two. :)
I put a lot of Texas songs on there, just because I like Texas. and there were some I searched for that weren't on there, and some that are on other blog friends' jukeboxes so I don't want overkill (Rod Stewart!) It took a couple of hours and was a lot of fun, lots of memories...some good and some sad, but memories are always a good thing, I think! Also, it only holds 75 songs, or I'd probably still be adding!

Scrap/Craft Night

We are on a mission to get people together in our battalion. Last night we held a battalion scrap/craft night. There were only three of us there, and truthfully...when I only heard back from two people, I was a bit disappointed. BUT IT WAS SO MUCH FUN! I really enjoyed the ladies who came and we knitted, crocheted and scrapbooked until 10pm! (started at FOUR!) I didn't get my pictures in the mail, so I was journaling and making template pages to be able to just put photos down when they get here. Once I ran out of things to do I just packed up and kept visiting. It was a good time.
Ora-we still need to do "community wide" scraps. I know you are busy, but let's try to figure something out when you can. Maybe on ACS sponsored "spouses night out"s so you can have a sitter if you need one.
Hope all is well and everyone is having a wonderful weekend. We are grocery bound. The plan to go to Holiday Park...rained out...again!

Weekly Recipes

I am starting a new thing. One new recipe each week. This week was pork tenderloin with peach glaze. We didn't love it. It was ok, we ate it, but probably won't make it again. It's a lot of trouble and just not in love with it, so not really worth the trouble. (esp since SB won't eat the peaches that go with it. I did, even though it was HOT FRUIT!)

This blog feature will normally be accompanied by a photo of said recipe, but I didn't get around to taking a picture of the food before we ate it last night, so no pic this week.

As you may know, I have a little bit of a problem with magazines. I love them. Real Simple, Good Housekeeping, Oprah, First, Redbook, Family Circle and sometimes Glamour. Whenever we are at the commissary or PX I pick one up. This is where I will be getting the recipes.

The pork tenderloin was from Good Housekeeping.

Harry Potter Mania!

Just so you know, Harry Potter mania is alive and well in Mannheim. We went to a Hail and Farewell dinner Friday night and when we got back to the PX where the truck was parked we saw this sign:

They were opening the bookstore at 1030, having trivia, and then selling the books at midnight. It was 9pm and people were already arriving to wait.
I'll have to find out if they sold out, and if so, how quickly.
The dinner was really kind of cool, on an old street car and we toured the city for a couple of hours. See pic to the right.
Hope you had a great weekend. We did a lot of scrapbooking and computer game playing, bill paying, house cleaning, lawn mowing and sleeping. It was a great weekend!

How a day can turn on a dime!

SO, I'm struggling through the day. Just tired, hot, hungry (from trip, no A/C at work, yucky lunch at dfac) driving to the post office to try to pick something up, they are closed, just issues right and left. I get home, change into boxers and a tank top, lay on the bed with fan RIGHT ON me.
The door bell rings. I think it is Stephen, can't get the door because he is carrying something in or something. Turns out, it is the lady from the beauty shop next door. I opened the door, she started speaking German. I asked if she spoke English, she said little bit and then said something I couldn't understand. She wanted me to follow her. I got the key (so I wouldn't be locked out) and followed. I didn't know where we were going, didn't know she was from the beauty shop. I followed her in and THERE WAS BAG #3! yaye!!!
It matters not that I am still in boxer shorts.

Photos are UP!

Here are way too many pictures of our trip. I hate that there are people we saw that we didn't get pictures of, and some people we missed all together. If your name is misspelled (Dianne? Kayleigh? Ally?) Let me know and I will correct it! I want to be sure they are right in the scrapbook!

We are still recovering...and waiting on one of the bags. SB emailed earlier to say he called the airport and #3 is still missing. I said, "what did they say?" His response:
They said "Sorry for information. Please to call back tonight to see if the bag locates, yes?"

Missing America.

Back home

Just a quick note to say we are back home. The trip back was nothing less than miserable. We got to the airport (IAH) at 9ish, our first flight delayed, just 10 minutes. We flew to Detroit, no problems. After our 3 hr lay over there, we flew to Amsterdam (8 hrs), also no problem. After waiting 4 of our 5 hours in Amsterdam, the man came on the speaker to say that our flight to Frankfurt had been canceled. They ended up rerouting us from Amsterdam, to Dusseldorf, and then on to Frankfurt. We got in almost 5 hrs after we should have, and our bags were lost despite our best efforts and assurances from ticket agents at KLM and Lufthansa. We went to the Luft. luggage info center in Frankfurt, and 2 of the 3 bags were delivered this morning, possibly the 3rd tonight.
I didn't go to work today. We slept until after 2pm, and now we are up and trying to get a few things done before we have to go in tomorrow. Pictures should be up some time this week.

big hug~h
